Entries are rolling in for the Southland All-Nations shearing and woolhandling events to be held at the 2017 World Shearing and Woolhandling Championships in February.
With team selections confirmed for the World Championships, the All Nations has been added to the programme to allow those not selected to be part of this historic event and allow international competitors the chance to put the final touches on their World Champs preparation.
Event manager Jude McNab said interest has been high. "Entries are coming in thick and fast from all over the country and all over the globe," she said. "It's great to see the names coming through each day and where they hail from. We're shaping up to have some very large fields and some great competition."
"Due to the high demand, we are going to close entries on 10 January and with limited numbers we would encourage those who have yet to enter to get their names in as soon as possible."
"We want to give as many people as possible the chance to be a part of World Champs, but the reality is numbers are limited, so don't leave it too long. Some categories are getting very close to capacity," she said.
Entries are being taken for Intermediate, Senior and Open machine shearing, Open Blade shearing and Senior and Open Woolhandling with heats and finals being held from the opening day of competition on Wednesday 8 February through to Friday 10 February.
Open and Senior Speed Shearing will also be held on the evening of Thursday 9 February.
