Despite lower back pains, Te Huia shore constantly at quicker than a lamb a minute, with successive two-hour runs of 124, 124, 133 and 126, breaking the record just before 4.26pm, and passing 500 with six-and-a-half minutes to go.

UPDATE: 3pm

But the resurgence, without any lambs rejected by the judges and despite a lower back ache, took her to afternoon smoko with a tally of 381, needing just 90 to break the record of 470 established by university graduate and Wairoa shearer Ingrid Baynes three years ago, and another 20 to pass the personal goal. Shearing at Te Hape, east of Benneydale, Te Huia shore 124 from the start at 7am to the morning smoko break at 9am, and looked to be stepping-up the pace when 64 were sent through the porthole in the next 60 minutes, her best hour of the day. In just under an hour to lunch she shore another 60. ENDS
